Sarracenia

Native to North America the trumpet pitcher grows in peat bogs from the North tip of Alberta, Canada to the southern tip of Florida. They are found in other countries but are not native. Sarracenia require a winter dormancy, just like venus flytraps and grow well in outdoor bogs year round.

There are roughly 10 sarracenia species but many hybrids. They come in a wide range of colors, shapes and sizes.

Sarracenia make for a good introduction to outdoor carnivorous plants and many hybrids and forgiving to beginner mistakes.
